Amsterdam Light Festival

The Amsterdam Light Festival is one of Europe's largest light art festivals. For this year's seventh edition, artists from home and abroad take you on a journey along 30 light artworks, among them Het Scheepvaartmuseum. The facade of the Maritime Museum is animated with a light and shadow installation by Marcus Neustetter. The silhouettes of objects from the museums' collection are illuminated with multiple lights. The overlapping shadows create a range of patterns and imaginary landscapes that reference Neustetter’s questions around todays assumptions and appropriation of foreign territories through historic voyages of discovery and trade.
