The Maritime Museum shows how water connects worlds. The museum is known as a high-profile and leading museum with one of the largest and most prolific maritime collections in the world. Every day we receive many visitors, ranging from museum buffs to day tourists and school classes. In addition, the beautiful building is a spectacular event location for conferences, weddings and business events.
 

We strive to exceed the expectations of our guests. This is also true for our kitchen team, which provides catering for the daytime operations,  as well as for banqueting events for up to 1000 guests. We are looking for a:

dishwasher (16-38 hours)

what are you going to do?

Together with your direct colleague, you use a professional washing and rinsing machine to ensure clean crockery, glassware, cutlery and other kitchen materials. For a shiny result, dry, polish and polish by hand. You also sort crockery and cutlery and then clean it up. You work on a roster when the restaurant is open (during the day) and possibly during events and parties (during the day and in the evening). That could be any day of the week. Further:

  • keep the washing-up area clean and also clean the other work areas;
  • you occasionally help your colleagues from other departments with various small jobs in, for example, the staff restaurant, kitchen, restaurant and banqueting;
  • you work in accordance with the regulations in the field of safety, working conditions, HACCP and work and presentation methods.

who are we looking for?

You are someone who can work independently, switches quickly between different activities and who keeps a cool head in busy situations. Having a sense of responsibility and attention to compliance with regulations and procedures are very important in this position. You also like to work in a team, you are available at flexible times and you take the initiative at the right moments. We further ask:

  • experience in a similar position;
  • willingness to work evenings and weekends;
  • you speak and understand the Dutch and/or English language.

what do we offer?

Your workplace is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in Amsterdam within a
committed and open organization with nice colleagues. We also offer:

- the salary depends on education and experience and falls in scale 2 (min. €1,725.00 to max. €1,960.84 based on 38 hours per week). The employment contract is concluded with Het Scheepvaartmuseum Enterprise. BV The catering collective labor agreement applies;
- 8% holiday allowance and 3.4% year-end bonus;
- participation in a pension scheme and a discount on collective insurance;
- museum card, free tickets for the museum and discounts in the museum shop and restaurant.
